Position: Social Media Associate (Student Assistant)

Department: Environmental Resources Engineering

Hours: 5-10 per week, flexible

Wage: $13/hr

The Environmental Resources Engineering department is seeking a Social Media Associate to work in the office 5-10 hours a week at $13/hour. Students with Work-Study funding through Financial Aid are encouraged to apply; however Work-Study is not a requirement. Below are the tasks and skills required for the position. Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled Humboldt student eligible for employment (enrolled in at least 6 units)

  • Must have Sophomore standing

  • Must be a student in good standing, with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and a minimum GPA of 2.5 during the previous semester

Tasks

  • Posting announcements, creating new pages and editing content on existing pages on the ERE website (currently running on Drupal)

  • Creating content for and managing activity on the ERE Department’s Facebook page as well as its private Facebook group

  • Updating content in the ERE LinkedIn group

  • Building, sending and tracking statistics for email campaigns via MailChimp

  • Creating posters, flyers and handouts for the ERE Department

  • Assisting with event planning for the ERE Department

  • Assisting with administrative tasks (organizing photo files, copying flyers, etc)

Necessary Skills

  • Experiencing using Drupal to create content for websites, or experience with other content management services (Wordpress, Weebly, etc)

  • Moderate knowledge of HTML and CSS, or evidence of strong programming skills and ability to learn about HTML and CSS.

  • Experience managing social media accounts, pages and/or groups

  • Experience with Google Apps and the Microsoft Office suite

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Experience using MailChimp to send email campaigns

  • Experience with event planning

The successful candidate will be asked to take a brief, on-line Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) survey & review ATI training materials as necessary (ERE department will pay for any time spent in training).
