Seminar Today at 5pm in JH 214: Identify & Disrupt Microaggressions in the Workplace

Today at 5pm in JH 214 we are having our first in a series of Professional Development Seminars.  Today's topic is

Identify & Disrupt Microaggressions in the Workplace.

This topic was chosen in response to requests from our student climate meetings last year where students asked for Ally Training. Also, if you see yourself working in California in your future, you will likely be working with people who come from a different background than yourself.  This workshop/seminar will help you develop skills to help you work better with others.

In this session students will about different types of microagressions and will learn options of what can be done if one observes microagressions in the work place - similar to Check It.  The facilitators are Humboldt faculty in Communication and Education.  I personally enjoy both of them as they are upbeat and positive folks who are focused on reducing harm in the world. Attached is a flyer for more information.

The department will provide some food with vegan and gluten free options.  We look forward to seeing you there!
