JC-85755 - AIR RESOURCES ENGINEER (MAND) - Final Filing Date: 11/1/2017The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategy Section is seeking a highly motivated Air Resources Engineer to join a strong team of professionals to advance the implementation of existing and development of new fluorinated gas (F-gas) regulations identified in the Short Lived Climate Pollutant Plan.  F-gases are potent greenhouse gases used in a variety of end uses, but most commonly as refrigerants and in foam insulation.  The regulatory measures are focused on reducing high-global warming refrigerant emissions from refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The successful candidate will conduct highly focused technical and scientific evaluations to identify and prioritize sources of refrigerant emissions and evaluate the technical feasibility of alternative low-global warming technologies.  The incumbent will work closely with industry stakeholders, engineers, facility owners and service providers in the industry to develop a better understanding of refrigerant emissions and mitigating factors. The successful candidate is expected to have an ability to communicate effectively on a technical and policy level, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of stakeholders including other CARB Divisions, government agencies, policymakers, industry, environmental organizations, and the public.  This position requires a strong educational background in engineering with general or specific knowledge of climate change, regulatory development and implementation.
