We are searching to replace one of three student editors on the ERE Messenger, the newsletter of the Humboldt Environmental Resources Engineering Department. The Messenger gives a visible face to the ERE Department, and we take seriously our responsibility to present a fresh, interesting, and honest perspective. It (the Messenger) has a reputation as a quality newsletter, and you will share in the pride that comes with making it happen. Past editions of the Messenger are available at:

STUDENT EDITOR ACTIVITIES:
• decide Messenger content (topics and authors)
• send out requests for articles
• work with authors
• sometimes write articles
• edit submitted articles for spelling, grammar, and presentation

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
• Must be an Humboldt undergraduate student with a major in ERE
• Must have completed at least two ERE major courses taught by ERE faculty
• Must not be within two semesters of graduation

QUALIFICATIONS:
• passionate about words and writing
• good writer
• dependable
• hard worker
• self starter
• works efficiently and effectively on a team
• gives and takes criticism constructively

APPLICATION MATERIALS:
• a short (200-300 words) statement saying who you are and why you are interested in the position
• a PDF copy of a document, written solely by you in the past three years and of any length, that you
think presents a good overview of your writing skills
(The document can be any “creative” essay, book report, english paper, history paper, etc. of your
choice, except that it must not be a lab report or other technical report.)
• Names of two ERE faculty members who know your work

• Applications must be made via email.
• Statement and two faculty names can be in the body of the email. PDF document must be attached.
