Caltrans District 1 Scholarship for Freshman and Sophomores, apply by May 27th

The Caltrans District 1 Social Fund and the Caltrans Transportation Foundation are offering a single $2,250 scholarship to one student seeking a career in transportation. This scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis to a high school senior or a first-year or second-year college student. The criteria for winning will be based on the applicant’s commitment to a career in transportation, academic record, and participation in extracurricular or community-related activities. Financial need will also be considered when determining the scholarship recipient.

 

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

·         Must be a high school senior or first-year or second-year college student from or residing in Humboldt, Del Norte, Lake, or Mendocino County.

·         Must plan to pursue a career in transportation.

·         Must attend or be accepted to a post-secondary institute (such as a college, university, or a vocational or technical school) in California.

·         Must provide an official transcript to verify Grade Point Average (GPA).

·         Must provide a description of participation in extra-curricular and/or community-related activities.

·         Letters of recommendation will be considered.

Please note that students related to Caltrans employees may apply.

Applications must be postmarked by Friday, May 27.
