Job Responsibilities Include:

• In a learning capacity, the Student Assistant will assist in preparing plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) using various design tools including Civil 3D Micro station.
• Develop plan sheets, including typical sections, layouts, profiles, and super elevation diagrams.
• Develop drainage plans, profiles, and quantity tables.
• Develop design details.
• Review other functional unit plans to ensure conformance with Design E1 plans.
• Develop and review estimates.
• Develop and review specifications.
• Learn and use Civil 3D as our design software to generate all the required design deliverables, including alignments, profiles, cross sections, slope stakes, earthwork quantities, structural section quantities, etc.
• Assist in the preparations and submittal of the PS&E/RTL package.
• Develop and analyze alternative solutions.
• Develop preliminary project design in accordance with the Highway Design Manual standards.
• Prepare cost estimates.
• Prepare exhibits and furnish data for preparation and review of environmental documents.
