Help Desk/Labs Student Assistant Job Description

The Technology Help Desk and Labs and Classroom team is currently looking for students to work in a team-oriented environment. All majors are encouraged to apply; extensive computer experience is not required. Applicants are rated on their customer service focus and ability to perform creative troubleshooting. Applicants should be comfortable conversing on the phone, in writing, and in-person while working in a customer service environment, and participating on a team.

Duties also include helping with and resolving classroom equipment issues and servicing printers with paper and toner.

These positions are expected to provide support, and troubleshooting regarding end-user software and hardware, and answer inquiries from the entire university community including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community users. They provide consulting support on various applications, including Microsoft and Macintosh operating systems, Microsoft Office, and other products commonly found in a university environment.

Training will be provided.

Skills Required:
- Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Must have the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users both verbally and in writing
- Must have Basic Technology understanding
- Must have the Desire to Learn
- Must be a Team Player
- Must meet minimum requirements for student employment
- Must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic

Academic Technology Student Assistants are trained to support all aspects of Humboldt Computer Labs and Smart Classrooms.
