Engineering Student Position

Want Experience?

One to two hourly, as-needed positions are available to assist with field data
collection and sediment data processing in the lab for a BLM-sponsored project to
monitor sediment transport in Salmon Creek Headwater Reserve. Student
responsibilities are primarily collecting water samples, conducting hydrologic
discharge measurements, and running lab analysis of suspended sediment. Field
work will be conducted on weekdays in collaboration with BLM personnel and
work is periodic and dependent upon rainfall. Lab analyses can be conducted at
any time.

Requirements for the position:
Enrolled as an Humboldt Environmental Resources Engineering student.
Interest in rivers and river restoration
Excellent Excel skills
Completed or currently enrolled in ENGR 351 – Water Quality
Experience with conducting suspended sediment lab analysis.
Available for week day and weekend field work and travel. The field site is in Fortuna. Vehicles are provided by BLM.
Ability to hike approximately two hours round trip to get to field site and carry out equipment and water samples.
Ability to work in challenging conditions.

Salary $14.00 per hour.
