NOTICE: Student Editors of ERE Messenger Needed

We are searching for two or three new student editors for the ERE Messenger, the newsletter of the Humboldt Environmental Resources Engineering Department. The Messenger gives a visible face to the ERE Department, and we take seriously our responsibility to present a fresh, interesting, and honest perspective. It (the Messenger) has a reputation as a quality newsletter, and you will share in the pride that comes with making it happen. STUDENT EDITOR ACTIVITIES:
• decide Messenger content (topics and authors)
• send out requests for articles
• work with authors
• sometimes write articles
• edit submitted articles for spelling, grammar, and presentation
• participate in process of selecting new Messenger student editors

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
• Must be an Humboldt undergraduate student with a major in ERE
• Must have completed at least two ERE major courses taught by ERE faculty
• Must have at least two full semesters remaining at Humboldt before graduation

QUALIFICATIONS:
• good writer
• dependable
• self starter
• hard worker
• works efficiently and effectively on a team
• gives and takes criticism constructively

APPLICATION MATERIALS:
• a short (200-300 words) statement saying who you are and why you are interested in the position
• a PDF copy of a document, written solely by you in the recent past and of any length, that you think presents a good overview of your writing skills (can be any “creative” essay, book report, English paper, history paper, etc. of your choice; cannot be a lab report or other technical report)
• Name of one (or more) ERE faculty member who knows your work

• Short statement and faculty name(s) can be in the body of the email. PDF document must be attached.
