An hourly, as-needed position is available to assist with field data collection and data processing for two Caltrans-sponsored projects to assess the performance of fish-friendly stream crossings and tide gates. Student responsibilities are primarily assisting with field site surveys, collecting hydraulic and water quality measurements and data processing. Field work will be intermittently scheduled as needed from now through December 2021. Field work during the school year will mostly be conducted on weekends.
Requirements for the position:
- Enrolled as an Humboldt ERE student
- Interest in natural systems and ecological restoration
- Excellent Excel skills
- Completed or currently enrolled in ENGR 333 – Fluid Mechanics
- Ability to perform field work on steep, rocky slopes and in rivers and streams
- Ability to work in challenging conditions
Additional skills considered:
- Previous experience with rivers and/or river restoration
- Some familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D and/or GIS
Salary depends on experience and class standing but will be $16.00 - $18.00 per hour.
